For those eyeing the in-game economy, breeding and levelling up your horse through gameplay transforms it into an incredibly valuable asset.
When breeding commences in Chalk River, the majority of horses will be the offspring of these 2,206 Genesis horses. We are striving to keep a realism to Chalk River, which is why future offspring carry lifespan limitations.
Six things a horse is
- Speed
- The horse's top speed and how quickly it can accelerate.
- Stamina
- A higher stamina lets a horse hold its top speed for longer.
- Strength
- Enables a horse to hold its course and not be bumped by others.
- Bravery
- A high bravery means your horse does not spook easily.
- Loyalty
- How responsive your horse is to commands.
- Longevity
- The lifespan of the horse. Six in-game hours equals one year.
All breeding takes place in player-run stables. The fee is paid by the mare's owner, and the offspring goes to the mare owner's wallet.
Lock up: breeding takes seven days, and the horse NFTs are locked for it. Owners can expedite that for 25 $VDT per day.
Maturity: a horse needs a minimum of 12 hours of in-game play before it can breed, and can no longer breed after 60 hours. A fertility elixir allows breeding past that point.

There have to be enough horses in circulation for the game to be fun, without overpopulation diluting their value. Population control is designed in rather than bolted on.
Genesis horses are immortal. Every offspring horse has a lifespan, tracked by the longevity attribute: hours of gameplay age the horse, which is what allows it to mature, breed and eventually die.
A horse at the end of its lifespan does not lose all value. It can be exchanged for a rare regeneration elixir, which can be sold or used to reset the lifespan of another expired horse.
